About this exam

The CMGA Comprehensive Examination covers competencies from all courses in the CMGA program. You can register for this exam after successfully completing all three program courses, and you must pass it if you wish to earn the Canadian Managing General Agent (CMGA) designation.

Exam format

The CMGA Comprehensive Examination is closed book and virtually proctored. Format details:

Two hours in duration
100 multiple choice questions (MCQs)
Some are scenario-based MCQs (a short scenario followed by several MCQs linked to that scenario)

Some are stand-alone MCQs (self-contained)
Each MCQ is worth one mark
The exam cut score or pass mark is set at 70%

Prerequisites

Before registering for this exam, you must successfully complete all three courses in the MGA program:

• B210: Commercial Insurance Essentials

• M260: Fundamentals of Managing General Agents & Delegated Authority

• M270: Applied MGA Practices

The CMGA exam is offered on specific dates, usually in June and September.
