DESIGNATION - When will I receive confirmation that I've completed the CIP program? Completion of the CIP program includes a minimum of one year insurance industry employment and successful completion of CIP course requirements. You will be mailed a letter from the CEO of the Insurance Institute congratulating you on your achievement approximately six weeks from the date all grades have been released per semester. - When can I begin using my designation? As a professional association, the Insurance Institute has a Board of Governors that meet twice annually—once in May for the Insurance Institute of Canada Executive Meeting, and once in October for the Annual General Meeting. After students successfully complete their final exam, they will be “elected” as a graduate at one of the two Board of Governors Meetings. Graduates are permitted to begin using their CIP designation on the date indicated in the completion letter. DIPLOMA - Can my diploma be emailed to me? Your diploma is beautifully framed as a presentable piece to recognize your achievement. To avoid damage to the glass frame, we do not mail it. - When will I receive my diploma? Your diploma will be presented in-person at one of three BC convocation events. CONVOCATION DATES - When and where is convocation? Graduates will be invited to attend the event near their place of residence or the location of their choice. There are three BC convocation event locations in 2025: • Victoria in November 2025 • Vancouver in November 2025 • Kelowna in January 2026 - When will my convocation be? Graduates who have completed their last course and requirements in the previous December, April and July exam sessions will be invited to convocation in the upcoming November. For convocation 2025, it will be students completing their last course in the December 2024, April 2025 and July 2025 exam sessions. - When will I receive my invitation to attend convocation? Invitations to graduates will be sent in September. Ticket sales for convocation events will open shortly after. - How will I receive my diploma at convocation? Graduates will be announced one-by-one as they cross the stage. A picture will be taken as you're presented with your diploma by the CEO and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Insurance Institute of Canada. Ceremony format may vary by location. - What happens at convocation? A meal will be served, followed by speeches and a presentation of diplomas and awards. Graduate achievements are celebrated in the presence of guests including Insurance Institute of BC Council members, industry leaders, fellow graduates, colleagues, family, and friends. Convocation events recognize the importance of professional development, as well as create opportunities for industry networking. COMPANY LIAISON - Are you the company representative who will be organizing convocation tickets for your company? Contact Winnie to update your contact information so that we can keep you informed of the relevant information. - Are there sponsorship opportunities? There are sponsorship options for all three convocation events. Sponsorship information will be available in September. QUESTIONS? Didn't find what you're looking for?
