Licensing requirements

The Institute offers approved learning options for all adjuster licence levels.

Level 1 assistant adjuster

Applicants must successfully take a written exam with the Insurance Council of Manitoba.

Level 3 adjuster

To complete the education requirements of your level 3 independent adjuster licensing, you must be employed as an insurance adjuster in a general insurance company or an adjusting firm for not less than two years.

You must also successfully complete all of the following Insurance Institute of Canada courses:
C11: Principles and Practice of Insurance
C12: Insurance on Property Part 1
C110: Essentials on Loss Adjusting
Any one of: C13: Insurance Against Liability-Part 1, C14: Automotive Insurance-Part 1, C111: Advanced Loss Adjusting, or C112: Practical Issues in Claims Management.

Level 4 independent adjuster

To complete the education requirements of your level 4 independent adjuster licensing, you must be employed as an insurance adjuster in a general insurance company or an adjusting firm for not less than five years, and successfully complete all of the following courses:
