Enabling Skills

About the modules

These self-paced study modules examine workplace critical skills that support effective and competent practice as an insurance professional. Access is free for active CIP students. The modules are currently optional and will become mandatory during 2026.

The Enabling Skills modules at a glance

Ten modules

You can choose when to work on them, and you can complete them in any order.

Ten hours

Allow about an hour or so for each module, including tests.

Online

The modules are available entirely online (no printed textbook) and can be completed on your own schedule.

Short tests

There are no formal exams or assignments. Scenarios and knowledge checks will help you assess your understanding as you progress, and you will need to pass a short test at the end of each module.

Timelines

Beginning in May 2024, if you are actively pursuing your CIP, you will have access to these modules within our learning management system. Access is automatic and there is no need to register.

The modules are optional during 2024 and 2025. You are encouraged to explore and complete all 10.

Beginning with registration for the fall 2026 term, completion of the Enabling Skills modules will be a mandatory prerequisite for course C16: The Business of Insurance. If you have not already completed C16 by July 2026, you will need to complete all 10 modules before registering for C16. You are welcome to complete the modules earlier.

Examples

Ali plans to register to take C16 as his last CIP course in spring 2026 (July 2026 exam) or earlier. Ali will not need to complete the modules before registering for C16.

Kiran plans to register to take C16 as her last CIP course in fall 2026 (December 2026 exam) or later. Kiran will need to complete the Enabling Skills modules before registering for C16.

Enabling Skills for the Insurance Professional
