Pathways to level 2
There are four options for you to achieve the education required by the Insurance Council of BC to obtain a level 2 adjuster licence.
Option 1: Level 1 licensing General Insurance Essentials (GIE), C110 and C111
This route requires you to complete the level 1 licensing (GIE) program, plus two courses from the Insurance Institute of Canada’s CIP designation program:
- Level 1 licensing General Insurance Essentials (GIE)
- C110: Essentials of Loss Adjusting
- C111: Advanced Loss Adjusting
Option2: C11, C110 and C111
This route requires you to complete three courses from the Insurance Institute of Canada’s CIP designation program:
- C11: Principles and Practice of Insurance
- C110: Essentials of Loss Adjusting
- C111: Advanced Loss Adjusting

Option 3: C110, C111, C112 and four additional CIP courses
This route requires you to complete seven courses from the Insurance Institute of Canada’s CIP designation program:
- C110: Essentials of Loss Adjusting
- C111: Advanced Loss Adjusting
- C112: Practical Issues in Claims Management
- Four (4) additional CIP courses

Option 4: CIP designation
This route requires you to have earned your CIP designation:
