General broker/agent licensing in New Brunswick

Level 1 broker/agent licence 

Our general insurance licensing program offers you the education required by the Financial and Consumer Services Commission to obtain a level 1 agent/broker Licence. The program uses the Insurance Institute’s General Insurance Essentials (GIE) textbooks and Atlantic Auto Supplement, but with a single exam for licensing purposes.

There are two options to obtain your level 1 broker/agent licence with the institute:

Pathways to level 1 licence

1. Complete the level 1 licensing materials (includes General Insurance Essentials information)

a. Independent study
Ideal if you want to complete the level 1 licensing program quickly and you prefer to study at your own pace.

b. Online classes
Real-time instruction, interaction with your peers and a range of supplemental materials to support your learning.

2. Take our CIP equivalency classes for C11 and C130

Examination irregularities and/or breaches may result in disqualification of the examination and suspension of examination privileges. The regulator will be notified of all disqualifications and suspensions.
