General insurance agent

Our general insurance licensing program offers you the education required to obtain the General Insurance Agent Licence. The program uses the Insurance Institute’s General Insurance Essentials (GIE) textbooks and Atlantic Auto Supplement, but with a single exam for licensing purposes.

There are two options to obtain your agent licence with the institute:

Pathways to licence

1. Complete the licensing materials (includes General Insurance Essentials information)

a. Independent study
Learn at your own pace and schedule your exam when you are ready. You will need to be self-motivated as there is no formal instruction. The kit includes the required textbooks and an online tutorial with practice questions.

b. Online classes

2. Take our CIP equivalency classes for C11 and C130
