What information and documents do I need on exam day?

Member ID

Your IIC member ID and password to log into IIC's exam administration portal.

Government-issued photo identification

Students must present original, valid (not expired) government-issued photo identification (passport, Canadian driver’s licence, health card, Permanent Resident card) for identity verification before they can write their exam. Digital copies or photocopies are not permitted.

Students without original, valid government-issued photo identification will not be permitted to write their examination and will be required to reschedule subject to the rescheduling fee.

Matching names

The name on the government-issued photo identification must match the name the student used to register for the examination (the name in the Insurance Institute Member account), otherwise the student will not be permitted to write the examination and will be required to reschedule, subject to the rescheduling fee.

Booking your RIBO Exam

The cost of each RIBO exam attempt is $300. Each rewrite is an additional $300. This fee is separate from the RIBO licensing application fee (see RIBO Exam Policies).

Virtually proctored exams

Exam times are booked on a first-come, first-served basis, so schedule your exam immediately after registering. 

Upcoming virtually proctored exam dates: January 6 - 24, February 3 - 21, March 3 - 21, April 7 - 25.

RIBO exams are not offered on weekends.

In-person exams

In-person exams are offered monthly at the following Institute offices on a limited schedule.

Upcoming in-person exam dates: December 4, January 8th, February 5, March 5.
